A London Wedding

Robbie and I started dating during my year abroad in London for my Masters. Of course I would meet the love of my life right before leaving the country. It was a very a challenging year but our constant anthem was "If we can survive England we can make it through anything". Thanks to Skype, snail mail, and some airfare splurges we not only made it through but we also had fallen in love with London. Every trip since that year has somehow always led back to a stop over in London. When we got engaged, despite numerous attempts to find an Atlanta venue, we knew that an intimate wedding in London was the only way to go.

Many girls dream of their fairytale wedding. Unfortunately I was ill prepared since I only dreamt of where I would go on my honeymoon. When it was time to actually plan a wedding I didn't know where to begin. Thankfully Robbie and I had only one realy priority - get married. I resorted to what comes naturally to me - planning a trip. I suggest this to any couple who is starting to feel overwhelmed by weddings. Find something that embodies you as a couple, could be a small detail or blatant one.

For us it was London. Designing a memory ,whether a wedding or a trip, is my favorite kind of challenge. I wanted our guests to feel - first at some level happy we are getting married - but more how we felt falling in love with adventure together. My favorite thing about being a travel addict is bringing others to the travel side of life.

Our church really set the tone for the day. In fact the only thing the guests knew was to meet at St. Etheldreda's, oldest Catholic church in England. Sometimes the only thing you know in an adventure is the beginning. Its a good place to start.

When the ceremony was over our guests walked out of the church to find a 1960s routemaster double decker waiting for them. Of course the next question was: Where are we going!? We kept them in the dark the whole time! When they boarded they were treated to champagne and treats for their three hour tour around London. It was definitely our favorite part of our wedding watching everyone enjoy themselves and wonder where it was we were going next!

Plus our conductor, Martyn, became my new best friend.

Don't worry! I didn't forget Robbie. I married a patient guy.

Our wedding tour ended at Grazing Goat for a delicious intimate dinner full of laughter and a night cap at Churchill's Cigar Bar. I am not a smoker but there is something fitting in enjoying a cigar in a wedding dress.

Our wedding day was successful to us because it embodied everything we love. Great food and travel! Getting married happened to be an awesome bonus.

Throughout the entire length of planning I was a continent away and never visited the venue or the vendors until three days before our wedding date. The result? Watch the trailer below and stay tuned for the full wedding documentary coming soon!
